Dear Families:
I hope this message finds everyone healthy, and getting their flu shots. As always, pass this on to those you recognize not on this list.
1) This is the first mass email I’ve sent since my “new” computer has been installed. Again, feel free to pass this on, or let me know of anyone not on the list so I can add them.
2) Thanks to all the parents who timed, officialled, and supported the team at last weekend’s Springfield competition. It was a great meet, with lots of huge time drops, personal bests, and of course first time swims. With the number of swims we had, there were very few DQ’s (disqualifications for new parents), which is great from a coach’s perspective. There are always things to perfect, however. Ribbons/awards have been put in the swimmer’s folders.
3) Results from each of our competitions will be posted on the parents bulletin board upstairs in the balcony. I would suggest keeping a “logbook” of your swimmer’s events and times - both as a reminder of personal best times, and a future keepsake. Time standards for achievement meets can be obtained through the Oregon Swimming website .
4) Be aware that the next competition entries to be sent in is for the ECSC Invitational, Dec. 7,8, & 9th, at Sheldon HS pool. I’m sure these will be sent soon, so confirm your name on the list.
5) This weekend’s competition is the CST Invitational, in Newberg. Warmup times are: Friday, 5:00pm with finals beginning at 6:00pm; Sat. and Sunday warmups at 8:00am for 10 & unders, with the Open (11 & overs) starting 1 hr. after completion of the morning session. We will try and inform our older swimmers of the w/up time tonite/tomorrow.
6) McSwimville entries (11/2-3-4) are sent in as well. This meet in McMinnville is one of the better quality competitions thru the year, and should provide plenty of competition from around Oregon. The warm-up times are: Friday, 4:30/5:30 start, Sat. & Sun. 12 & Unders 7:30-8:15am, 8:30 start, with 13 & Overs w/ups at 12:00noon with 1:30pm start.
7) I hope all the pictures turn out well from last nite. It has been awhile since the last time this was done, and I can’t wait to see the group and team photos. Thanks to Lisa Harnisch for arranging this, and everyone’s cooperation in getting this done in a timely manner.
8) We have had some inquiries about our warm-up suits. I believe that Kate will be putting an order together in the future for those wishing to purchase a set. Please be patient, as we don’t want to go through what happened last time.
9) Thanks to Russ & Lisa Chandler, Randy Rasmussen, and others for arranging the suit order. Because of the large order, and Russ’ contacts, we were able to get our suits at a great price. And they look super on the kids!!
10) Rumors persist about additional swimmers. Our tryout period is over, and we will NOT be taking additional swimmers until spring’s tryouts, if there is room. Our roster is currently at 115 swimmers, just an FYI. I appreciate everyone’s assistance, and critiques, especially with the younger age groups - they are the ones that have the largest learning curve (and enthusiasm, and energy).
11) Billing statements will be printed after the McMinnville meet, so it will include those meet fees. An FYI, the Springfield, CST, and MSC fees are: $3.00 relay & individual event, & $1.50 OSI surcharge.
Thanks to everyone. As Kate said last nite, this is going to be an exciting year - with all the new faces, swimmers practicing hard, and achievements that are possible for the team and all to attain.
