Here is a quick update on the yard sale fundraiser. Thanks to all of your donations, $385 were raised. A special thanks to the swimmers who helped out. They were Sammie, Crystal, Tori and Brittney. Also thanks to the moms that helped out, Cindy, Kathleen, Julie, Kathy, and Sue. Thank you for all the help ladies.
The meet this weekend is in Springfield. It is an open meet. Warm ups start at 7:45 for the 12 and under and 8:30 for 13 and over. For all the new parents, the bearcats usually sit in the balcony. It would be great if some of the parents that have been around longer could help the new parents. Thanks and have a great meet.

Dear Families: This is a lengthy email, with lots of information, so feel free to pass on to those not on my list. I apologize for not sending something sooner, but wanted to get all the information correct before sending it out. Thanks, and have a happy holiday (for some).
1. The water time billing has been set. My plan was approved by a couple parents from different age groups as fair and just. It will be added to this month’s (October) statement and is as follows: AG1 = $19, AG2 = $16, AG3 = $20, Srs. = $41. I hope to print billing statements later this week, which will be put in everyone’s folder at the pool.
2. This from the Oregon Swimming House of Delegate meeting a couple weekends ago. If anyone is interested in becoming part of Oregon’s All-Star teams in the future, you need to get an application for a passport in ASAP. Especially if you are planning on being a member of this winter’s team, as it travels to Canada. This is a 6-8 week process (it can be done sooner), so this needs to be done by January’s meet. I would suggest everyone plan on getting a passport eventually - it’s what’s headed our way for security…
3. Meet entries have started, and we are trying to process them sooner. New families should be aware that to sign up for a meet, it’s done at the Chemawa pool, via a clipboard with the folders. Kate and Robbert are doing them, and we are trying to send them in sooner to eliminate being “shut out” of any competitions. The schedule is posted on the club website , so everyone can make plans in advance. So far, entries have been sent for: Marie deHoog Invite (WSC-Springfield), McMinnville Invite, Lincoln City, and Tigard Tualatin. Check the clipboard for future meets, or the website.
4. Mentioning the website, Eamon Ford (with help from Robbert) has done an amazing job of updating it with current information. If you have any ideas you would like to see on it, tell Eamon. He really likes doing this, computers are a passion of his, and likes challenges.
5. We are going to update our medical insurance forms notebook. Having looked at it, I know we have some members who need to redo, or update their information should anything happen. If you have a change in your insurance, please ask for a new form. I will leave a form for those swimmers who either don’t have one, or it is incomplete.
6. Another billing item for our “old” swimming families. It is getting close to the end of the year, which means we have to pay our 2007 USA Swimming registrations. New members have already done so thru their “initiation fee”. This will be added to Nov/Dec. bills, and this year’s fee = $48.00 per swimmer. If this is not done by Jan. 1, we have to “pull” your swimmer from the water until it’s paid.
7. We have been asked by the staff at Chemawa to NOT bring any food items into the pool. I’m sorry, but this includes the birthday cookies, cupcakes, etc. They are enforcing their rules, and we are their “guests” for the time being. The drinks/supplements are ok, just as long as they are in plastic bottles, and cleaned up.
8. Lastly, I am asked about the Willamette pool progress. Here is the latest - bids have been received from 3-4 construction companies, and are being evaluated as I write. It is hoped that “demolition” of the pool bottom will begin either this or next week. Then the evaluation of the bottom drainage pipes, support fill, replacement (if needed), as well as the addition of another main drain. I also learned that any new concrete bottom has to “cure” for 30 days before any paint can be applied, so it can adhere properly - which also has a “curing” time of its own. Needless to say, it may be 3-5 months before we are able to be “home”.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me : 503-370-6601, work. Thanks to everyone for their continued support thru this difficult time.

We will be doing our Butter Braid fundraiser again this year. There will be two different types of Butter Braids to sell this year. The forms will be handed out next week and will need to be returned by Nov 2nd. This is a great fundraiser for the activity fund and the travel fund. The Butter Braids are a great treat for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you have any questions please talk to myself our Vicki Awalt.
